Thellma is a Berlin-based legal tech startup at the intersection of regulatory compliance and artificial intelligence. We are developing an AI-powered system that translates regulatory requirements into clear, product-specific instructions. Our solution is designed for the legal departments of medium-sized companies.
Thellma was founded by Dr. Theresa Oehm and Michael Glass. As a lawyer specializing in regulatory law, Dr. Theresa Oehm has spent many years helping companies understand and implement regulations. Combined with Michael Glass’s IT expertise, this led to the idea of automating product compliance using AI.
The name references the movie “Thelma & Louise,” in which two women rise above themselves and suddenly do things that even surprise them. The name “Thellma”—with a double “L”—also incorporates Large Language Models (LLMs) as well as the Greek word “thélema,” which means will and desire. We want and hope for a journey just as exciting as that of the two characters in the film.
To strengthen our team, we are now looking for a third person, ideally someone with technical background knowledge and a strong sense of curiosity.
