How does income inequality affect citizens' support of populist parties?

We are introducing another one of the projects that you can find on the website of the Humboldt Governance Lab. Within the project, the researchers Lukas F. Stoetzer, Johannes Giesecke and Heike Klüver have been investigating the following question: "How does income inequality affect citizens' support for populist parties?"

Could rising income inequality provide an answer to the question of why we have been facing a steady rise of right-wing populist parties in Europe for over a decade?

The Humboldt Governance Lab of Humboldt University Berlin was founded by researchers to provide the latest research insights from political science to the general public in an easily understandable way and to build bridges between science and the political sphere as well as civil society.

A broad range of research projects on contemporary political phenomena is available on the platform at any time and provide valuable insights which might serve politicians, e.g., as a means of decsion-making.
