Job Insert: Director of the Chemical Invention Factory (m/w/d)

In collaboration with the Berlin Senate, Technische Universität Berlin is currently establishing a state-of-the-art laboratory and startup hub, the Chemical Invention Factory (CIF). At the same time, the nationally funded project greenCHEM is being coordinated, aiming to develop an innovation ecosystem for Green Chemistry. TU Berlin is now seeking to fill the following position:

Director of the Chemical Invention Factory (full-time, part-time may be possible) (m/f/d), limited to 3 years, pay grade E14 TV-L Berlin Universities

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the CIF, including user support during the construction phase and the transition from INKULAB, the current laboratory infrastructure on the TU campus, to the CIF
  • Coordinate the greenCHEM collaborative project with over 25 partners from academia and industry
  • Manage the CIF and greenCHEM teams at Berlin universities
  • Expand startup activities and technology transfer projects in the field of Green Chemistry
  • Acquire third-party funding and maintain networks with investors, industry partners, and research institutions

Your Profile

  • Completed university degree in natural sciences, engineering, or economics (ideally chemistry); a PhD is desirable
  • Experience in startup consulting, third-party funding acquisition, and personnel management
  • Excellent German and English language skills
  • Knowledge in laboratory infrastructure development and university structures is an advantage
