The road to founding Unite gGmbH was a long one. As early as 2022, initial discussions began about establishing a Berlin-based entrepreneurship center. Now, it is finally set to launch - with a team led by Laura Möller, Christoph Krüger, Stefanie Molthagen-Schnöring, and Thomas Heilmann on board.
Berlin and Brandenburg aim to become Europe’s number one innovation hub with the help of Unite gGmbH. Winning the German government’s EXIST Flagship Competition - and securing five years of funding worth ten million euros - marks a major step toward this goal.
Private investments exceeding ten million euros, contributed by Berliner Sparkasse, private investors, and business partners such as Bayer and Deutsche Telekom, will also help drive this ambitious endeavor.
Unite’s mission is to significantly increase the number of science-based, technology-driven start-ups. Its focus will be on artificial intelligence, healthcare, and green technologies. Berlin’s governing mayor, Kai Wegner, has set a bold target for Unite: by 2030, the aim is to launch a science-based start-up every single day.
Volker Hofmann, Managing Director of Humboldt-Innovation GmbH, sums up Unite’s vision: “Together, we will unleash the full potential of science-driven entrepreneurship.” The establishment of Unite Science e.V. as a key shareholder of Unite gGmbH marked a true milestone and gamechanger.
Unite’s programs and public offerings are set to launch in early 2026.
