The transport system in Germany is characterised by a constantly increasing number of forms of transport and many providers. In long-distance traffic, however, these are limited exclusively to the connection of main hubs. For the actual customer problem - getting from door to door quickly and easily - there is no one-stop solution. The vision of FahrtenFuchs is to integrate all local and long-distance means of transport in one platform and thus offer customers a comprehensive door-to-door transport service. To achieve this goal, FahrtenFuchs is solving two challenges at once:

On the one hand, such an integrated solution requires an innovative search engine. The search algorithm of FahrtenFuchs is able to process individual entries of start and destination addresses, evaluate the available offers based on geographical criteria and offer a tailor-made service.

On the other hand, an area-wide transport offer is required which integrates existing forms of transport and especially connects small towns. Since the latter in particular represents a major challenge, FahrtenFuchs has developed the "Mitfahrgelegenheit im Reisebus" (carpooling in coaches) together with bus companies. This uses free places in coach transport such as city and event trips to market these exclusively via FahrtenFuchs as a pure transport service.

In Germany alone, more than 4,000 bus companies offer such occasional services and in 2011 alone had free capacities of 10.65 billion seat kilometres. With this safe, reliable and environmentally friendly product, FahrtenFuchs is closing a gap in the long-distance passenger transport market, even between medium-sized and small towns.

Shortly after its launch, the product will be expanded to include long-distance bus services, which were liberalized at the beginning of the year. In the course of time, carpooling in cars, long-distance trains, car sharing, taxis and local public transport are to be integrated into the service.
