This continuing education program is designed for professionals working in disability inclusion services—particularly those in the fields of (rehabilitation) education, nursing, and social work. It teaches the fundamentals, principles, and approaches of palliative care and applies them to the support and care of people with disabilities at the end of life.
The focus is on questions such as how to support seriously ill and dying people with disabilities with dignity, how to make decisions in a participatory manner, and how to conduct communication processes—including those that go beyond language—with sensitivity. Participants reflect on their own professional roles and topic-specific experiences, learn approaches for institutionally embedding a culture of palliative care, and develop ideas for collaborating with relevant partners and networks.
