Basics in intellectual property and corporate law for founders

In the founding phase of a start-up, fun becomes increasingly legal seriousness, which experience shows that the founders notice in different ways:

This can start with thinking about the liability for doing something right from the start - how liable am I actually? Do I want to be personally and unrestrictedly liable or would it make more sense not to take the full risk?

But this can also begin with the fact that less thought has been given to the matter and suddenly a lawyer's letter (warning) has unexpectedly landed in the mailbox because, for example, a trademark, a design or a patent has been infringed.

In these and other situations, founders are confronted with legal relations - in the first example case with the area of company law, in the second example with the area of industrial property rights (and company law - who might possibly have to pay the warning costs?)

The aim of the workshop is to provide the participants with an overview of the absolute basics of these two areas of law and to create sensitivity and problem awareness for (legal) areas which are of great practical importance in the early stages of the foundation.

Therefore, the following areas will be dealt with

  • Company forms (UG, GmbH etc.)
  • Company name
  • Intellectual property rights
  • Industrial property rights (trademarks, patents etc.)
  • Fairness law
  • exploitation rights (of the copyright).
