Berlin biggest startup support
31.01.2017 investment company Balderton Capital publishes study, Humboldt-Universität as largest educator for employees of startups
The Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU) is Germany‘s largest educator for employees of startup companies in the technology sector. That is the outcome of the recent study „European Talent Landscape 2016“ of the british investment company Balderton Capital.
Therefore most of the specialists are graduates of the Humboldt-Universität, which could take first place ahead of the Freie Universität Berlin, Technische Universität München, Technische Universität Berlin and Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. Although the top 5 colleges of Germany include two technical universities, only a little amount of employees are trained in sciences.
The Balderton studie shows that Berlin is one of the top three startup cities in Europe together with London and Paris. About one third of all employees in the startup szene are located in one of the three cities. The number of 515 000 developers even comes close to the number of the US-American Silicon Valley with 564 000 innovational minds.
The Humboldt-Universität venture service now exists for over ten years. Operated by Humboldt-Innovation (HI) in cooperation with the Research Service Center (SZF), supports the venture service graduates and scientists with their foundation of new companies. With support in form of coaching, training programs, public relations and connections to investors, offers the program full support to startups on their way to found a company.
Since 2005, 61 founded companies developed from the program and resulted into more than 560 new jobs.
